Brazil Slag Grinding Station Storage
Project Details
| Country | Brazil |
| Industry | Steel |
| Material | GGBFS |
| Capacity | 10,000 tons |
| Commissioning | Commissioned in 6 weeks. Performance test confirmed 200 tph loading rate, <15 mg/Nm³ emissions, and stable moisture levels in stored slag. |
Customer Requirement
A slag grinding station in Brazil needed storage for GGBFS (ground granulated blast furnace slag) before and after grinding. Requirements: wear protection for abrasive slag, dehumidified aeration to prevent hydration, and integration with the grinding mill and bulk loading.
Engineering Solution
Manxing provided 2 x 5,000t welded steel silos with Hardox 500 wear plates in all contact zones. The aeration system uses dehumidified air (dew point -20°C) to prevent slag hydration. The discharge system feeds the bulk tanker loading station at 200 tph. The dust collection system handles the ultra-fine GGBFS particles.
Project Results
The grinding station produces 300,000 tons/year of GGBFS for the cement industry. The silos have shown excellent wear resistance with minimal maintenance required.
