Project Overview
Saudi Arabia Water Treatment Lime Storage
Project Details
| Country | Saudi Arabia |
| Industry | Chemical |
| Material | Quicklime |
| Capacity | 1,000 tons |
| Commissioning | Commissioning included leak testing (pressure decay test), desiccant system verification, and slaker feed calibration. System passed all tests. |
Customer Requirement
A water treatment plant in Saudi Arabia required quicklime storage for water softening. Requirements: hermetic sealing to prevent air slaking, dehumidified aeration, corrosion-resistant construction, and reliable discharge for the lime slaking system.
Engineering Solution
Manxing provided 2 x 500t hermetically sealed steel silos with internal epoxy coating. The aeration system uses desiccant-dried air (dew point -40°C). Temperature monitoring detects any hydration reaction. The silos are equipped with pressure/vacuum relief valves and desiccant breathers. The discharge system feeds the lime slakers at a controlled rate.
Project Results
The system has been operating since 2022 with no lime degradation issues. The desiccant aeration system has proven highly effective in the Saudi climate (ambient humidity 60-80%).
