Customer Requirement
A gypsum board manufacturer needed storage for FGD gypsum (from a nearby power plant). Requirements: corrosion resistance for acidic FGD gypsum (pH 4-5), anti-caking discharge, and continuous feed to the board production line.
Engineering Solution
Manxing provided a 3,000t stainless steel (316L) silo with live bottom screw discharger. The 316L stainless steel provides corrosion resistance for the acidic FGD gypsum. The live bottom (sweep auger design) ensures reliable discharge even with caked material. The dehumidified aeration system prevents additional moisture absorption. The discharge system feeds the calcination plant at a controlled rate.
Project Results
The silo has been operating since 2021, feeding the board production line 24/7. The 316L stainless steel shows no corrosion after 3 years. The live bottom discharge has eliminated caking-related downtime.
