Turkey Cement Plant Coal Storage System
Project Details
| Country | Turkey |
| Industry | Cement |
| Material | Coal |
| Capacity | 3,000 tons |
| Commissioning | Commissioning included full safety system testing: nitrogen purge verification, explosion venting inspection, alarm and trip testing, and operator training. ATEX certification obtained. |
Customer Requirement
A cement plant in Turkey needed safe storage for pulverized coal and petcoke used as kiln fuel. Requirements: NFPA 68 explosion venting, nitrogen inerting, continuous CO/Oâ‚‚/temperature monitoring, and ATEX compliance for the European market.
Engineering Solution
Manxing designed and installed 2 x 1,500t welded steel silos with full NFPA 68 and ATEX compliance. Features: explosion venting panels (calculated vent area), nitrogen inerting system maintaining Oâ‚‚ < 10%, multi-point temperature monitoring (24 thermocouples per silo), CO monitoring, explosion isolation valves, and ATEX-rated electrical equipment. The safety PLC (SIL 2) provides automatic emergency shutdown and notification.
Project Results
System operating safely since 2021. Zero safety incidents. The plant achieved 100% petcoke substitution for coal, reducing fuel costs by 30%.
